It’s been a big year for Northwestern Outdoors Radio! The syndicated hour-long show, hosted by veteran outdoors writer and broadcaster John Kruse, has doubled in size this year. The show is now broadcasting on 26 stations in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. The latest affiliates to pick up the show include KAPS 660 in Mt. Walla Walla wolves and new wolf seen on trail camera footage
Two wolves from the new Walla Walla pack and at least one new wolf in Umatilla County were seen on trail camera footage taken in August 2011.
The individual wolf was seen on a trail camera Aug. 18 in the Mt Emily Unit (Umatilla County), where wolf activity has been suspected. Tracks in the area suggest this wolf may have been travelling with at least

KLBM 1450 - La Grande and KBKR 1490 - Baker City are adding Northwestern Outdoors Radio to their weekend line-up beginning August 7th. The two Pacific Empire Corporation stations will air the show Sunday mornings at 7 AM, bringing this regional program to listeners throughout Northeastern Oregon, an area known for wildlife, hunting, fishing and an abundance of natural beauty.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation has awarded $435,000 to shooting ranges across the United States and several Northwest ranges are receiving some of this grant money. The Walla Walla Gun Club in Southeast Washington, the Central Oregon Sporting Clays and Hunting Preserve in Redmond, Oregon and Center Target Sports in Post Falls, Idaho will all receive funds for programs designed to get more people shooting.

The first of August heralds several new beginnings for hunters in the Northwest to include:
1. The opening of bear hunting season in Washington and Oregon. Gary Lewis, author of "Hunting Oregon", will be telling us more about this on the July 30th and 31st show.
2. The opening of the "Green Fields" early elk hunt in Idaho and archery opener in Idaho's Hells Canyon area. The green fields hunt, taking place in seven units, is primarily an antlerless elk hunt meant to limit

Cabela's is opening a store near the Tulalip Casino in NW Washington near Marysville, Washington. Located less than an hour's drove north of Seattle, this store will certainly be a big draw for sporting goods enthusiasts throughout the Seattle-Evertt-Bellingham area.
