Summer came late, and is welcome to “Keep on keepin’ on” out here at Potholes Reservoir. With 90 degree plus September weather we are experiencing has the fishing on fire. 30+ fish days for multiple species are being reported. The fishing off the MarDon Resort Dock has been great with limits of Crappie, Bluegill, and Perch being reported. The occasional jumbo Largemouth is also being caught off the dock. Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass are being caught in huge numbers all around the reservoir on Perch colored Rapala crankbaits in 5-15 feet. The Walleye and Trout can be caught trolling worm harnesses or even jigging blade baits in 20-40 feet of water. The water elevation is currently at 1028.7 feet, or about 18 feet low.

This Saturday, 9-10-11, The Long Lake Bass Club with tournament director, Bob Stiener, will present the 2011 Old Farts Bass Fishing Tournament at MarDon Resort. To fish from 9am until 3pm, you must be over 40 years old or fish with your mom or dad. This relaxed bass tournament is a great time and simply six hours of fishing. This weekend the Skagen Boat group will enjoy some fine company with fellow Skagen Boat owners and enjoy boating on Potholes Reservoir. These boats are absolutely amazing. Many non-boaters come out to MarDon to see the state of the art, high-horsepower boats. It’s really not a race, but a high-octane boat show! Beach party & potluck on Saturday, bring your favorite dish! Hosts will provide Willie’s BBQ Ribs and Pie!
